What we believe in

CORE is the coalescence of ideals, expertise, and passion. In the supersaturated cauldron of pay-to-win Robotics “education” centers, CORE rises above, because we are not afraid of losing; we are afraid that our students do not learn, that they walk away with a false sense of achievement.

We are decorated roboticists at the national and international level at the most technically demanding competitions, yet we do not rest on our laurels. We are constantly connecting with the robotics industry, working on the hardest problems of the time, and studying research fresh off the press before distilling all this knowledge down to a level comprehensible even to the beginner.

The execution of our methodology is highly demanding, requiring the most dedicated and knowledgeable trainers. Yet it is only with this rigor that we have developed engineers, programmers, and roboticists sought after by the top universities in the world.

Education in schools is just a small subset of Education.

As consultants, we strive to give our clients an understanding of the current state and the future of the industry so that they can best harness the power of robotics in the present moment, and set themselves on a path to develop breakthroughs in the future.

As roboticists, we build solutions that bring to life the possibilities offered by robotics and design, to inspire others by showing off the possibilities of a rapidly developing field.

What others have said

Kenneth and Shen are super smart, knowledgeable, fun and encouraging. They are the best robotics coach that I could have ever asked for.

CORE’s lessons always captivate the mind. Not only do Kenneth and Shen Chen equip students with the skills required for success in the robotics arena, they give a holistic education in science and technology. Above all, their lessons cultivate a hunger for success and a passion for learning in the STEM field.

The Robotics Club in JC was my first step into the world of technology. I liked that though both Kenneth and Shen gave us many helpful tips and provided us with a general direction, they were also hands off enough to let us make our own decisions and learn independently, which made the experience more meaningful. I think that my positive experience in robotics was what pushed me to pursue a degree in Computer Science, and I am grateful to CORE for enabling that.

Kenneth’s style of guiding us was rather unorthodox. The focus was on having us first explore by ourselves how to solve the problem at hand; only later would he reveal the many different ways of doing so. As someone who joined with virtually no prior tech-related experience, this was quite daunting, and even seemed a little unhelpful at first. But it eventually turned out to be a very valuable approach, because it gave us the freedom to explore and learn about a wide variety of things depending on the direction that we chose to take. Beyond the technical knowledge and competition experience, it’s this spirit of self-directed learning that’s perhaps my most important takeaway from my time in Automatica, and that I’m most grateful to CORE for.

I was fortunate that I came across Kenneth while looking for Robotics Teams in Singapore. Kenneth’s guidance was priceless. When working with him, you realise the amount of experience and immense knowledge he possesses. At first, I was overwhelmed by the steep learning curve for joining the team but Kenneth provided necessary resources to make sure I could catch up and be a productive asset in the team. In the end, our team won a Gold medal in RoboCup Asia Pacific! If you’re interested in Robotics or even Engineering, I highly recommend working with Kenneth as he exposes you to the vast field of Robotics.

Although I am no longer majoring in tech-related discipline, that period of time under their guidance did plant a seed of interest and provide me with a innovator mindset to be always willing to go back into tech.

Bachelor in Architecture at The Cooper Union

I think my time in Automatica is really different from everyone else because it was my first time getting into robotics and I had no prior experience to compare against or for me to expect what Auto was going to be like, but I have to say I really did enjoy the degree of autonomy that we were given … I think for Auto, the students really feel a complete sense of ownership about their projects. I know it’s cliché but at the end of the day we were really ok even if we didn’t win the competition because we knew we built the robot ourselves and it reflected what the team was capable of. From my experience, it felt like there were a lot of opportunities to learn what I wanted to learn, and as a team there were a lot of opportunities to take the project exactly where we wanted and not do things just because they’ve always been done that way or because it is the winning formula.

What we’ve achieved

Or at least those we remember (2009 – 2020)

If there’s one thing we’re bad at, it would be keeping track of the >100 awards we have amassed over the years. From National to International competitions, we have proven ourselves time and again. At the end of the day, these awards have come to mean less and less to us. What matters more is that our students are developing into innovators ready to solve the problems of the world, that our clients leave no potential untapped, with results in their hands they’ve never imagined possible.
